Located near Avignon, in the Southern Rhône Valley, The Chartreuse de Bonpas is a fortified convent from the 12th century erected on a historical crossing point of the Durance River, at one time named Bonpas (Bon, or good Passage) and given by the Pope. Founded by the Bonpas monks, there has been a long association with winemaking. The property changed ownership over its long history & in 2003 was bought by a very influential French wine family; Famille Boisset, who are dedicated to making wines of great quality. All grapes are sourced from sustainably operated vineyards with a preference from vines of a minimum age of 25 years to ensure their cuvées boast well integrated tannins and a wealth of aromas.
