Katnook's heritage dates back to 1867 with wine pioneer John Riddock, yet the brand wasn't officially established until 1971, releasing its first vintage in 1979.

Katnook Estate is a well-regarded wine estate located in the South Australian region of Coonawarra & it's terroir allows for a diverse range of grape varieties. Katnook boasts three listings in Australia's prestigious Langton's Classification of Australian Wines – only one of six wineries in Australia to have at least three positions. This classification, starting in 1990, is reviewed every five years and is similar to Saint-Émilion's Classification system. Katnook's classified wines include the Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon.
